Enigmatic is the senior runner in this but he’s not been beaten far the last twice. Good Birthday is 4lb lower than when winning on good to soft at Doncaster last year but can be a law unto himself, though finished ahead of Silver Gunn on Town Moor last month. Bolthole will handle the ground and was a very respectable third over this trip at Goodwood two runs ago. Benoit De La Sayette takes off a handy 3lb and he should be thereabouts but it’s possible that the handicapper has underestimated LATTAM (NAP) and the latter can complete his hat-trick. Adjourn won in a higher grade at Doncaster in July but was disappointing next time and will have to prove himself on the going.
