Verdict

Any market move for May Parkin would look interesting on this British debut, however a better betting proposition may be course and distance winner KIRSTYS LAD for whom Robert Havlin looks a good jockey booking. Mike Mullineaux's gelding hardly comes here in sparkling form following four heavy defeats. However he does run this track well (three course and distance wins) and is now down to his lowest mark for some time. Incidentally two of his three wins have come in the month of October and he should run well. Top-weight Carnival Dream is one of the more consistent runners in the race; this four-year-old filly is yet to break her duck in 25 starts but shouldn't be far away once again. Heavenly Saint is starting to look well handicapped, a comment that applies to quite a few in the race after some below par performances. Of those, it may be Bidable who is the most interesting having run well here before. Headache is closely linked with the selection on their run behind Pianoforte here in September, whilst May Parkin has been off for a year but this well-bred filly would be interesting on this first start for Michael Wigham if supported in the betting, despite her wide draw. An open handicap to begin the card and just narrow preference is for Kirstys Lad.
