Compton Classic has obvious claims in this race but our vote goes to ADMIRAL BOND with Ryedane also likely to feature. Although not pulling up any tress our selection has been steadily improving form his last few outings and this could be the race that sees him land the gold. Apprentice David Probert has been booked for the ride to ease the amount of weight he'll carry and a continued progression will have him in the winner's enclosure. Compton Classic should be a warm order when the market opens after a decent second at Kempton after three months off. That form doesn't quite stand up though as the winner of that race has been beaten twice since but Jim Boyle's charge will be fitter this time and is a danger. Also one to consider is Ryedane, who returns to the track where he was just denied a win over six furlongs two runs ago. That form hasn't been stood up since but the six-year-old is running consistently and that alone might be good enough to feature here. Also in the mix is course and distance winner Monte Major. Its been over a year and a half since that win though but he showed a bit to suggest that wait might soon be over after running credibly at Great Leighs last time out. Just Joey could also be one who challenges for the minor placings after an improved performance over course and distance nearly a month ago while relative newcomer Rightcar Lewis ran her best race to date last time out. But Admiral Bond is the selection. (Jamie Watson)
