Verdict

Banningham Blaze gained a deserved victory at Yarmouth last time and looks set to follow up that success today at the expense of Pont Neuf and Lord Lahar. Tony Carroll's filly won a shade cleverly without her rider having to do more than cajole her past Touch of Ebony in the final 100 yards after travelling well throughout. Today's drop in trip will not be a problem as she was moving sweetly all the way up the home straight and, with most of today's opponents seemingly out of form, she should be capable of landing back to back wins. Lord Lahar was well behind the selection at Yarmouth, but showed much improved form to win over course and distance next time, he will be a big threat on this occasion. As will Pont Neuf if she can recapture her summer form when landing a couple of races at Windsor. Not a race to get too involved in, but Banningham Blaze holds strong claims and just edges the decision.
