Despite being slightly more competitive than division one, AUGUSTUS JOHN stands out on recent form and is readily preferred ahead of Corlough Mountain and Night Orbit. The last named already has a bit to find with Augustus John and will need luck on his side. Still he holds a fair chance of making the frame in this company and, as this is his debut at Wolverhampton, he is by no means a lost cause. Corlough Mountain has built a good relationship with today's pilot and another big run can be anticipated. He is a likely candidate to cut out the running and, from just a 3lb higher mark than for his course win a fortnight ago; the five-year-old is worth bearing in mind as an alternative to the selection. However, Augustus John has steadily improved as his stamina tests have been increased and, as he looks a perfect partner for an inexperienced rider, it can pay to stick with Augustus John today.
