In depth

Verdict

Hardly a scrap of form to go on here and Cape Samba's second on the polytrack last time is not likely to be good enough against some choicely-bred and late-maturing sorts from top yards. The Stoute, Gosden, Varian and Lanigan operations all run two each and FEARLESS DREAM is only a token choice to get off the mark. The John Gosden inmate was exceptionally green on his sole run at two but gave the impression that he'll turn into a much better three-year-old, staying on under tender handling. Rye House was hampered late on when nearer last than first at Yarmouth but is the choice of Ryan Moore and looks a guaranteed improver. However, the main threat to the selection could be the unraced Pick Three. Roger Charlton's maidens have started the season in great heart and the son of Three Valleys would be especially interesting should the market speak favourably. Indeed, this is a contest where the betting patterns are likely to provide punters with the best clues.
