Verdict

MAJOR DUDE is an obvious newcomer in a race where the majority of those to have seen action don't set the world alight; Littleportnbrandy and Nutley Copse rate as the main dangers. Richard Hannon's Sakhee colt cost 34,000 guineas and is out of a mare who, although not from a sparkling family, was a winner herself. This colt represents the yard that target maidens here and the betting should indicate what is expected tonight. Cheylesmore is not ignored on debut, however Cathcart Castle and Perfect Pastime may rate as more pertinent newcomers to consider. The best form is held by Littleportnbrandy who has bumped into some good horses in two races so far, but it must be pointed out that the winners of both races are trained by Richard Hannon. Keiren Fallon catches the eye as a jockey booking but she can be opposed. Nutley Copse is the first foal of a dam who is related to plenty of winners, including at two, whilst St Oswald is a half-brother to Military Power although the latter didn't blossom until his second season. The betting will be informative in this opener but we are happy to stick with Major Dude from his good draw.
