In depth

Verdict

Experimentalist has one or two strong formlines but overall he's been a bit disappointing though a decent run on the Flat last month should have put him straight. SONAPOUR was having just his tenth career start and his second over timber when an excellent runner-up to Sizing Italy at Sligo last month. He may even have won but for being impeded at the last and, as he had Defence Of Duress a length back in third, he should confirm the form and take this. Tobar Na Gaoise, a useful performer on the Flat, has disappointed so far over hurdles and was a beaten favourite in a similar race at Tipperary in April. El Toreros is the form pick on his close fifth behind His Excellency in a Grade 2 at Leopardstown but his later efforts over timber and on the Flat haven't come anywhere near that level.
