Black Pirate is having a first run over hurdles in more than two years but Sayar would have a chance on his best form and One For Billy was third at Market Rasen six weeks ago. His former stablemate ANTUNES (NAP) has benefited from a change of scenery, however, winning by 17 lengths over fences at Bangor. He can race off the same mark here back over hurdles. Serious Ego is on a decent mark at present and shouldn’t be far away again while Flat winner Bucephalus looks fairly treated on his handicap bow. Sedgefield winner North Parade also has a chance, despite a 6lb rise.
Antunes 13-2 (12-3) Tracked leaders, chased leader 3 out, led next, clear when eased flat, won at Bangor-on-Dee 2m 1f hcp (4) sft in Mar beating Higgs (11-5) by 17l, 6 ran.
Black Pirate 5-1 (11-12) Held up in touch, took closer order 4th, not fluent next, hit 4 out, soon pushed along, weakening when slow next, last of 4, 33 1/4l behind Oscars Leader (11-12) at Newcastle 2m hcp (4) gs in Feb.
Sayar (IRE) 11-2 (11-11) Disputed lead, until led 6th, ridden and headed approaching 2 out, weakened before next, 6th of 12, dist behind Inishbiggle (11-8) at Catterick 2m 3f hcp (4) sft in Feb.
Bucephalus (GER) 5-1 (11-3) Led after 1st, headed 2nd, led 4th, pressed when not fluent last, stayed on, headed towards finish, 2nd of 11, nk behind Head Law (11-3) at Huntingdon 2m (4) sft in Mar.
