Verdict
If Asparagus can put a poor run at Haydock behind him then he looks the form pick ahead of Arctic Fancy, Jacador and the unexposed Brigade Charge. The selection was most consistent last season and began this season well at Newbury finishing fourth behind Redemption. Still relatively lightly-raced for a ten-year-old this could be the race to kick start his season and see him back in the winner's enclosure once again. Arctic Fancy can be expected to come on for his debut run two weeks agao at Chepstow and if recapturing the form he showed last season should run the selection close. Jacador ran well over hurdles last season and has shown a liking for fences this term. This return to a shorter trip should suit after not appreciating a run over three miles six furlongs last time out. Brigade Charge has to be respected from the Jonjo O'Neill yard and although he has not shown too much on the track this season will be interesting in the betting market which the selection Asparagus looks likely to head.
