An interesting maiden to start proceedings at Thirsk with several of the leading southern-based stables represented. Included among them is a newcomer from the David Loder stable, Meilland, who is a half-brother to the useful Bowman. However, considering the general poor form of the yard's juveniles he is probably not one to take a short price about. Sir Mark Prescott's Lanark Belle, a half-sister to Adiemus by Selkirk, would have claims if fully wound up, while David Barron's Moyanna, second over course and distance last month, is probably best of the northern-trained runners. The one they all have to beat though is Mick Channon's Sheriff Shift. The son of Night Shift has made steady improvement with each start and with more to come, and the stable continuing in such good form, he gets the TEAMtalk vote.
