Legal Lover has hit a rich vein of form and is taken to land the hat-trick at the expense of Lake Wakatipu and Golden Spectrum. Reg Hollinshead's tough three-year-old has certainly appreciated the drop in grade, winning two races here over the mile trip. This drop in distance will not be a problem as he was leading over a furlong out and holding on well to beat Sonderburg last time. Lake Wakatipu possibly found the mile trip just beyond her last time as she was going nicely on the home turn before fading into third behind Witchcraft, so she should be capable of making the frame again. Golden Spectrum has claims on his course and distance effort in October when third to Brave Chief. All in all a pretty poor contest and Legal Lover can make it three wins in a row.
