chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, weakened over 1f out

mid-division, ridden over 2f out, kept on, never dangerous
broke well, outpaced from halfway, kept on from over 1f out, never dangerous
led, ridden and headed over 1f out, every chance inside final furlong, not quicken close home
Quite a competitive heat to close the card and there are three or four worth considering. One of those is Mr Pertemps, who won over course and distance on his penultimate start. However, a 6lb rise for that win meant he was well held last time out and he is likely to find it tough going off the same mark again here. A place looks booked though. Francport is interesting back over 6f after scoring over course and distance also on his penultimate start. He put in a decent showing over 7f last time when collared close home and off the same mark he looks sure to go well again. Another course and distance winner, On The Trail possesses ability but looks a bit high in the weights at the moment, as does Majik, who returns fresh from a three month break. Therefore, the vote goes to Johnston's Diamond. Another winner over c & d, Eric Alston's gelding was held at Wolverhampton last time after being upped 3lb. However, he seems to prefer a bit of a break between runs and after being off for six weeks he should be freshened up again and can be ably assisted to victory by Kieren Fallon here.
