COPPER WEST has yet to win under Rules but has won a point-to-point and he is expected to leave his hurdles form behind now tackling fences. He definitely has more scope than Free Stone Hill, having his sixth start over the larger obstacles and a pound higher than when a beaten favourite last time at Warwick. Le Precieux and Joueur Bresilien is held on that run, however, while Sword Of Fate rather lost his way over hurdles during the winter, though a return to better ground will suit Tom Lacey’s five-year-old who also has point-to-point experience.
Sword Of Fate (IRE) 10-1 (11-12) Always behind, no chance when hung badly left on home turn, 11th of 12, 35 1/4l behind Mr Antolini (11-7) at Leicester 2m hcp (3) hvy in Jan.
Copper West (IRE) 15-8fav (11-12) Led, pressed 2 out, soon headed, mistake last and weakened, 5th of 12, 25l behind Pistol (11-1) at Carlisle 2m 1f hcp (4) hvy in Feb.
Free Stone Hill (IRE) 7-2jfav (11-7) Held up in rear, not fluent 3rd, headway 3 out, close 2nd last, ridden and no impression on winner flat, 2nd of 10, 5l behind Hargam (11-10) at Warwick 2m hcp (4) gd in May.
Joueur Bresilien (FR) 13-2 (12-2) Chased leaders, lost place 5th, struggling after 3 out, weakened before next, 7th of 10, 20l behind Hargam (11-10) at Warwick 2m hcp (4) gd in May.
Le Precieux (FR) 14-1 (11-10) Led, clear 5th, headed 2 out, weakened last, 6th of 10, 17 1/4l behind Hargam (11-10) at Warwick 2m hcp (4) gd in May.
