Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

Amorist looked like he'd need a mile last time and we take him to score here from Stevedore, Thornaby Green and Latin Express. The selection has already finished runner-up over the trip on turf at Brighton in the summer. That was on good to soft ground, and his run here last time over 7f showed that he handled this slowish surface too. He was staying on that day and can make the extra furlong count here. Stevedore is in great heart at present and has the assistance of Eddie Ahern from the plate here. All going comes alike to this likeable colt, won over course and distance last time and has gone up 6lb as a result. He will certainly be thereabouts again and can go very close. Thornaby Green will have supporters with his feather weight after winning a poor race here last time, but this is tougher, while Latin Express is plummeting through the ranks and needs some confidence. Of the others, Suffolk House looks interesting back on this surface after a pipe opener, and market confidence would be significant, but without that knowledge we'll take Amorist for Sir Mark Prescott.
