In depth

Verdict

It took Barristan The Bold five attempts to get off the mark but he was quite impressive over 7f here earlier in the month, though looks vulnerable against less-exposed types under a penalty. Voltaic was third on debut at Windsor and filled the same position over 7f at York when just behind a subsequent winner. Paul Cole’s colt should be winning soon but Flying Dragon failed to land the odds at Ffos Las on his first run for Richard Hannon and Damon Runyon was a beaten favourite stepped up to a mile at Kempton. Jim Crowley carried Hamdan Al Maktoum’s colours to victory in this 12 months ago and has chosen DALAALAAT ahead of Albadr. By Kingman out of a Galileo filly that won over 7f on her racecourse debut and was later second in the Coronation Stakes. She has produced winners with her first three foals to race and William Haggas’ newcomer could be another. Al Mikdam is a brother to a Group 3 winner so should also have a bright future.
