In depth

Verdict

A competitive classified stakes race with several of the seven runners holding claims including Little Good Bay, Looking Down and Into The Breeze but the vote goes to Dove Tree, who made a winning reappearance in similar company at Nottingham last month. The daughter of Charnwood Forest was a neglected 20/1 shot in the betting market that day but dominated from the front and kept on well to beat Geoff Wragg's Quiet Storm by a-length-and-three-quarters. Entitled to come on for the run, she is taken to continue the good form of the Henry Candy stable. Into The Breeze has struggle din handicaps this term and may do so again here having to give weight away all round. Looking Down is more expose than most and a bigger threat to the selection may come from Little Good Bay. John Gosden's colt has only raced five times so far and showed his best form of the year at Newmarket last time when a close fourth to Compton Emperor. A reproduction would see him go close.
