Call Me Lord is 8lb higher than when second last year and probably needs further nowadays but Nicky Henderson also runs the hat-trick seeking Dream Du Grand Val, who is less exposed. Jane Williams’ Monsieur Lecoq is another on a three-timer and he’s already recorded a course and distance victory this season, beating Our Merlin nine lengths. Extra Mag bids to enhance the Pipe stable’s tremendous record in this Grade 3 and has been attracting market support while First Flow looked a smart prospect last season before running at Cheltenham, though has an absence to overcome. Malaya was an eye-catcher last time at Ascot but that was over an extra-half mile, though Speredek and Totterdown will ensure there is a fast pace in this. BENNY’S BRIDGE is 8lb out of the handicap but also carried overweight when scoring with the proverbial ton in hand at Cheltenham in January. That race has worked out well and soft ground can be a great leveller around here.
