Nonrunner
This is an ultra competitive sprint handicap to get proceedings underway with plenty of the 15 runners having claims including topweight Biniou, Richard Hannon's Cake and Bryn Palling's Sharpened Edge, who are all well drawn but it is CANADIAN DANEHILL that gets the vote. Robert Cowell's gelding was good value for his win at Newmarket on his reappearance in May and ran well here on his next start prior to not being disgraced at Salisbury last time and, off what seems a fair mark, he looks worth chancing from a decent draw. John Spearing's Equuleus Pictor comes into this on the back of wins at Haydock and York in his last two starts but they have both been on a softer surface and a combination of faster ground and a rise in the weights makes this more difficult. The Jobber won well enough at Salisbury last time and he has to be respected off a 2lb higher mark from the best of the draw in stall 15. Tony The Tap has been done few favours with the draw and more solid claims are held by Northern Dare, who represents the in-from stable of David Nicholls and has been in good heart of late. David Barron's Jaconet has solid claims on form but is badly drawn and a safer option looks to be Canadian Danehill.
