In depth

Verdict

Faith And Reason won as he liked last week and assuming that the market doesn't scream 'nay', he can win again at the main expense of Compton Charlie, Soviet Sceptre and Irish Ballad. Andy Stringer has inherited some well-handicapped horses and judging by the way he won at Brighton, Faith And Reason could fit into that category. Perhaps coinciding with the reapplication of the visor, the horse won as he liked and a 6lb penalty is unlikely to stop him especially as he won off a mark of 78 as a juvenile. Soviet Sceptre's record is inconsistent, but he won well at Chepstow recently and is worth watching in the betting for his up-and-coming trainer, however there is no guarantee that today will be another 'going day'. Compton Charlie is very consistent, but this mark of 58 probably looks just beyond him. Megalala is consistent, and whilst evidently no world-beater he shouldn't be far away, although he may have to wait for another classified race before he can win again. Irish Ballad would be a big danger if on form again; he ran his best race for some time recently at Brighton on quick ground and he has a nice racing weight and a nice young jockey on-board. At a price Daring Racer could snatch a place, however Faith And Reason is taken to win again.
