ADMIRAL DUNDAS gets the nod ahead of in-form rivals Pelham Crescent, Hanoverian Baron and Featherweight. The last named gained a deserved success at Goodwood last month (Oriental Girl was well held in second) and, from just a 5lb higher mark the Barry Hills-trained filly has a feasible chance on these terms. It will take a career best effort from her to prevail though. Hanoverian Baron started life with John Oxx in Ireland - reaching a mark of 95 last season. The handicapper relented since his switch to the UK and he crept in almost unnoticed to score at Sandown last month. Jamie Spencer takes over the riding duties this afternoon and it would be no surprise to see the former champion jockey go close again here. Pelham Crescent has held his form well in what has already been a good season for his connections. He will need to pull out all the stops on these terms, though. He may have to settle for a minor role; especially if Admiral Dundas runs anywhere near his best. The four-year-old had his confidence boosted with a success in claiming company at Hamilton in September before meeting trouble in running on the all-weather last time out. That effort is best forgotten as the race had slipped away by the time he got a clear run. Granted a clear passage this time; it's not hard to envisage Admiral Dundas getting back to winning ways.
