This is not the strongest of contests so the market will offer most clues. In the absence of it, we will drink to MEDICINAL COMPOUND with Paschendale and Desert Forest on the list of alternatives. Kevin Ryan's charge ran a promising effort at Chester on his latest outing and back to a more regulation track; we are hopeful that a full measure of his improvement can be noted. Godolphin continue to send out winners so Paschendale has to be factored. The son of Refuse To Bend is bred to get this trip though looked clueless when leaving the stalls on debut. Desert Forest is back to a more realistic level today and is sure to provide a fair yardstick to the worthiness of the form. Mark Johnston won this race last year so make a note of the presence of Persian Poet and Always De One in the market. Arctic Cosmos was not disgraced on debut at Kempton and this son of Derby winner, North Light, went into many notebooks on the back of that debut. Mountain Debut is from the family of Asian Heights so anything achieved at this stage of his career is merely a bonus. Medicinal Compound is favoured without reference to the market movers.
