Verdict

There's a disappointing field of just four for the richest race on the card, and none should be immediately ruled out, but our preference is for STRAWBERRY MOON, who's never been out of the frame in nine races, with her two victories coming here over six and seven furlongs. This trip probably suits better, as she can be tardy away from the stalls. Well bred, this is her first outing since October, but she showed last year she can run well when fresh. Her last run, here in October, found her well suited by a strong gallop to defy top weight status to win by a neck in a big field, when again slowly away. Leftontheshelf could be the main danger, making her handicap debut after solid performances. Runner up on debut at Nottingham to the Super Sprint winner, we're taking on trust here she gets the trip, having previously only raced over five and six furlongs. She's John Spearing's only runner on the card, and having her first run since October. She's the only one of the quartet not to have won at this distance. Gap Princess has had three runs this season, finishing well down the field in a similar contest at Warwick on Saturday. Prior to that she'd been placed here on a couple of occasions when looking like she wanted further. Sam's Secret may be in the grip of the handicapper; a model of consistency last season in being placed, it's nearly two years since she last won. On their day, if everything falls right, any of the four could win it, but we'll side with Strawberry Moon.
