Verdict
DABBERS RIDGE is narrowly preferred here to Seneschal in this opening race. The selection appeared to have a good opportunity at Wolverhampton on Monday but he let favourite backers down by finishing third to Mocha Java. He perhaps isn't the most straightforward but if he gets the strong gallop that suits him best then he should take all the beating. Seneschal is rated 5lbs lower so at these weights he is only 3lb worse off than he would be in a handicap. Andy Haynes' gelding is a formidable opponent on his day and he likes quick ground and is a very dangerous front-runner today. Sheik'n'Knotsterd needs to improve as he steps up in trip, whilst Efidium has a real affinity for this track and the drop in trip is probably in his favour although he comes here relatively out of form. Yahwudhee is less exposed than many in the field and his sole victory (for Peter Chapple-Hyam) came over seven furlongs on quick ground so he is not to be underestimated, however this could easily go the way of Dabbers Ridge.
