      DAPPER MAN will prove popular as he escapes a penalty for winning an apprentices’ race at Ripon just four days ago. He finished well ahead of fourth-placed Mutabaahy on that occasion and can go in again. Ventura Express has yet to win and has switched yards since last seen at the track while Birdie Bowers and Royal Prospect return to action having both tumbled down the weights last year.
