Verdict

Barry Hills has won this race three times in the past nine years and can make it a 40 per cent strike rate with American Art, who should be too good for Enactment, Especially and Trip The Light. The selection was disappointing when a beaten favourite last time and clearly has to put that behind him here, but his previous effort at Newbury is the best racecourse form achieved here and provided his trainer has him feeling good again he can break the maiden tag. Enactment has raced twice so far, both on soft ground, and may be capable of a fair bit of improvement on this faster surface. His form so far has not been as good as that of the selection, but the market might give us some help. Especially may be stronger in opposition and put up a decent debut when chasing home Runswick Bay at Redcar last time. This stiff 6f should suit and Mark Johnston's runner should not be far away. Trip the Light was well down the field on debut here but did not look suited by the cut in the ground and we expect to see a signifiacnt improvement now, but the colt will do well to overhaul American Art, who gets the nod.
