Rosbay is a sporting option and gets the nod over Birkside, Night Hour and Royal Jet. The last named has been struggling with the handicapper for quite some time and needs luck on his side. However, he did win on the all-weather off a mark of 90 last February, so is no forlorn hope on these terms, if he can turn back the clock. Night Hour also appears to be weighted to the hilt and looks harshly treated at present. Ted Durcan steps in to ride the Godolphin-owned gelding and may have his work cut out in trying to supplement his riding fee. Birkside is a consistent fellow that tries his heart out every time he races. The five-year-old ran a blinder at Goodwood last week and has to merit the utmost respect in this company. However, Rosbay is a versatile character and would be dangerous to let slip under the radar at the likely odds. All ground comes alike to Tim Easterby's gelding and, as he also has an abundance of stamina, the four-year-old rates as a solid betting proposition on these terms.
