In depth

Verdict

Andre Chenier has most weight but can still prove up to the task over his older rivals, including Crosby Dancer and Templet. This is a poor contest and should be well within the scope of Andre Chenier who showed there is a better race than this to be won with him when third in a class 4 handicap hurdle over the track-and-trip at the start of the month. That will have sharpened him up, as his previous effort was actually not a bad one when fourth of eight on the Flat at Ayr in June, and the drop to this level should help a lot. Crosby Dancer on the other hand has more to find, as his only victory to date came in selling company at Sedgefield in May. He does receive a stone from Peter Monteith's runner here though and may at least make a race of it. Templet is another that normally gets found out when stepping out of selling grade, and unless the market suggests otherwise, Andre Chenier is the safest option.
