Verdict

Enzo Barbieri sets the standard after looking the likely winner on bumper debut at Kelso before being reeled in by Akarita Lights in the closing stages. He's well bred for the game and has a strong chance. However, there may be some value in taking him on with GONN AWAY. The Kirby mare also shaped with distinct promise on her bumper debut at Hexham, staying on stoutly in the closing stages and makes some appeal in receipt of 10lb from the likely favourite when the claim of Thomas Dowson is included. Ask Paddington showed improvement from his low-key debut when a fair third last time but his stable companion, Night Manager, makes stronger short-list appeal under Paddy Brennan after a promising Hexham debut.
