Verdict
Chalentina is taken to make a winning start over fellow debutantes Giving and Jaish, with Fair Rosamond best of those with some experience. Henry Cecil always used to like to introduce a nice two-year-old at Colwick Park, and he can roll back the clock with Chalentina. The daughter of Primo Valentino should have inherited plenty of speed, also being related to Sri Pekan on the dam's side, and her recent work on the gallops has been most encouraging. Giving catches the eye on breeding as well, but she will be aimed at middle-distance events in time and should be outpaced by the speedier-bred sorts today. Jaish hails from a stable whose newcomers nearly always need their initial outing, but she is sure to know her job as well. Of those to have seen the track, Fair Rosamond makes most appeal, having had two outings already. She was a beaten favourite at Catterick when only third in moderate company, and is another that will benefit from a step up in trip in time. In a race in which nothing stands out, Chalentina could easily go in first time.
