Brousse En Feux won well enough in this grade two starts ago at Uttoxeter and David Pipe's gelding has to be considered but he is probably better with a bit of cut in the ground and, unless the rain arrives, he looks best left out of calculations with a better bet looking to be SOVIET SCEPTRE, who gets the vote ahead of Rathrockscourt. Aidan Anthony Howard's gelding remains a maiden after 14 career starts but the Irish challenger has ran well on his only previous start in the UK when a close third behind Kalellshan in a Perth handicap in May and he has solid claims dropped into a seller. The 11-year-old Top Trees is on a long losing sequence but has to be considered in what looks a poor seller, especially having run well in two of his last three starts over course and distance. Peter Bowen's Osprey View is more than capable of taking a hand in the finish but he was well beaten on his reappearance last week and is hard to recommend. Brigadore is likely to find this tougher than the race that he won at Plumpton last month and preference is for Soviet Sceptre. Tim Vaughan's gelding has been running consistently well in his last few starts, all over course and distance, and is closely matched with Top Trees but he should really appreciate the faster ground today.
