Verdict
An impressive debut win for the Ed Dunlop-trained Dream Scheme, who quickened up nicely for Jamie Spencer when asked to win her race at the furlong pole. She was eased down in the final 100 yards and the daughter Machiavellian has to rate as a very interesting prospect. Clive Brittain's Awwal Malika stayed on well to get second, followed by Barley Moon, who had looked very threatening as the leaders raced into the Dip. Staying on from the rear in fifth was Etoile d'Or who looks to be improving, while the Barry Hills-trained Danehill Kikin attracted money before the race and raced prominently under fading after hanging right inside the final two furlongs. He should do better in time. The winning time of 1m 14.69secs was 3.69 secs above the Racing Post standard time and, much as that is not particularly impressive, the manner of the winner's victory most certainly was.
