    Verdict

This is not the strongest maiden that you will ever see at Newmarket and it will far from surprising to see this dominated by the four newcomers. With Balmont just preferred over Byron, Redbank and Sgt Pepper. The Jeremy Noseda-trained colt is bred to make an impact at this sort of trip and, with the wily Pat Eddery booked for the ride, he may prove to be much better value that Byron, who is sure to be all the rage; but may be seen to better effect over further in time. Redbank is another locally trained individual who is worth taking notes on but is probably best watched this time. Where as Swinbrook already has improvement to find. So Balmont will not have to be anything out of the ordinary to get off the mark at the first time of asking.
