Verdict
Marbled Cat and Greensward set the standard here and the nominal vote goes the way of Marbled Cat. Mark Johnston's colt was made favourite on debut but could only manage third in a slowly run affair. A stronger pace and/or stiffer test should see him in a better light and he may be able to take this contest. Greensward can also find improvement from his debut effort which came in a well contested affair at Newbury. He drops back a furlong in trip this afternoon but he is from a sprinting family and merits the utmost respect. It remains to be seen how that pair and the newcomers handle the soft ground though and, as ever, a close eye should be kept on the market. Jeremy Noseda's juveniles have been in fine form and he saddles a Royal Lodge entry in Brenthurst here. Emirates World is entered in everything and is another that hails from a yard with a good strike rate in this division. All of this field make some appeal on paper and it will be interesting to see how this lot fare and Marbled Cat can only be a hopeful choice.
