Mark Johnston has made a great start to the campaign and can also get Thursday's action off to a flyer with Starchy, who is weighted to reverse the recent Doncaster form with Cool Panic. River Royale is rated as the biggest threat from the rest. There are several others that are open to improvement, not least Foreign Editor, who blitzed his field when winning a maiden on his debut (also on the same day at Doncaster). However, he does lack experience and it is difficult to confirm whether he displayed a useful turn of foot or was simply spooked by the noise of the Town Moor crowd when he came towards the final furlong. Either way, he readily pulled away from the rest and, as he should appreciate this extra furlong on pedigree, he is respected with his claims. Looks Could Kill is also worth a cautionary look in the betting as he dropped several hints that he has a race within him as a juvenile. The market will tell us how confident his connections are about today being his day. River Royale proved to be consistent as a two-year-old and is rated as a useful handicapper by his trainer. Vitally he has experience of the track and will be hard to keep out of the frame with only nominal improvement. However, Starchy has the edge in terms of proven race fitness this afternoon and, as she almost certainly needed the run when beaten by Cool Panic 12 days ago, the daughter of Cadeaux Genereaux is now expected to make the most of the 6lb pull she enjoys at the weights today.
