Verdict
The Kiddykid is selected to win this valuable sprint, with Baltic King and Dazzling Bay nominated as his biggest dangers. Dazzling Bay has had a great season, winning his last three races but he is now a huge 32lbs higher in the ratings as a consequence, which surely will make life difficult. For example, The Kiddykid is now 19lbs better off with him for the six-and-a-quarter lengths he was beaten by him at York on June 14 (Folio is well held on that form). Despite being two pounds worse off with Coconut Penang for the half-length The Kiddykid beat him at Haydock on May 24, that came on heavy going. The good going forecast for Newmarket swings the balance back in favour, we feel, of The Kiddykid. That said, Coconut Penang has since finished a very good third at Royal Ascot from today¿s mark (on which form Judhoor, Fancy Lady, Polar Force and Move It both look held, although today¿s trip is a furlong further), so is entitled to go well. Bond Becks is now one-pound lower than for his Catterick win in a juvenile and has been dropped five pounds by the assessor since the start of the season. This will also be his first attempt at six furlongs this season so cannot be ruled out. The beautifully-bred Harb, related to Dayjur on the dam¿s side of her pedigree, might just need this seasonal return ¿ unless the market says otherwise, of course. Irish import New Design will be doing well to win this at the first time of asking this season, but, working on formlines involving Dazzling Bay and Mr Malarkey, Baltic King has every right to be competitive with the selection. Once again, then, for us it all points back to The Kiddykid, with Baltic King looking set to go well, and the admirable Dazzling Bay given chances to collect some prize money.
