In depth
Verdict
Lodger has his best chance yet and is a confident choice to see off main rival Faayej, with the rest making no appeal. Only the two mentioned have any worthwhile form, with Lodger far and away boasting the most experience. Placed on all four starts this term, including when third in the King George V Handicap at Ascot, the only chink in his armour may be that he will not get the strong pace that his stamina laiden pedigree demands. Even so his form looks head and shoulders above his rivals and he can see off the promising Faayej who has been off the track since finishing fifth to stablemate Promotion at Sandown in May. He was the stable's third string that day, so is obviously not one of the leading lights at Freemason Lodge. On breeding, he too will come into his own over middle distances-not this time though as Lodger should make no mistake.
