A Thousand Smiles can improve again to open her account, with Grey Plover, Scott's Mill and Mr Majestic taken to give her most to do. Six of the eight runners have reached the frame at least once already during their brief careers, including A Thousand Smiles who handled the ground well enough when fourth to Signatory on her Pontefract debut in September. She was stepped up to 14 furlongs on her second start at Goodwood 10 days ago and gave a good account of herself in finishing second to Queen Of Iceni. She tried to make all that day but had nothing left for the end and the suspicion is that that she will be better suited to this drop back in trip. Queen Of Iceni's trainer John Dunlop saddles Grey Plover who has not really progressed since a promising debut behind Twyla Tharp at Goodwood in May, but she should again be thereabouts in this company. Better was expected of Scott's Mill on his Musselburgh bow and he is best watched here, while Mr Majestic is more exposed than most. Which all leads us back to A Thousand Smiles as the likely answer.
