TUFTON wasn't beaten far last time and he can gain his compensation here at the main expense of Wind Star and Tres Froid. Richard Fahey's 6-year-old chased home Empowered at Doncaster at the start of the month and a reproduction of that effort should suffice here. He was making his seasonal return that day so he should strip fitter tonight and he sets the standard for the others. Wind Star looked in need of the run on his seasonal return at Musselburgh as he travelled really well but just ran out of steam. He should be spot-on for this and he is a leading player with trip and ground to suit. Tres Froid has got some decent form in France and she has to be of interest on her British debut, although she has been off the racecourse since November so she may need this. Reel Buddy Star showed some fair form last season and he could improve for this step-up in trip. He might be the each-way value in the race, but Tufton looks a safer option and he is taken to regain the winning thread.
