Lazuli finished behind Tinto and subsequent Leicester winner Tis Marvellous when fancied in this grade at Sandown two runs ago and has since been beaten in Listed company at Deauville. Second to the mighty Battaash in the King’s Stand Stakes in June when ahead of Tis Marvellous, EQUILATERAL spoiled his chances in the Flying Five at the Curragh last Sunday with a tardy start but still wasn’t beaten far and can gain compensation here. Moss Gill ran well for third in last month’s Nunthorpe at York but was nowhere near that form at Doncaster 10 days ago when behind Wise Words.
