Verdict
Sir Michael Stoute's Daze looks well treated judged by her win in a Chester maiden last time and is taken to make a winning debut in a handicap, with Compton Drake and Deep Purple rated the main dangers. Like the selection, Deep Purple has only had the two starts but was well held on his first start in handicap-company at Sandown last month and may be a shade high in the weights. Top weight Solo Flight has the beating of Ed Vaughan's Cellarmaster on running in a classified stakes race at Newmarket last month but has disappointed since then. Flying Spirit has won three handicaps already this term but now looks to be in the grip of the handicapper and of more interest may be John Gosden's Tip The Dip, who makes a belated reappearance. Gerard Butler's Compton Drake lost no caste in defeat at Epsom last month and is entitled to be thereabouts again under Frankie Dettori but preference is for Daze. Sir Michael Stoute's filly has been allotted a mark of just 75 for her debut in this grade and looks capable of making a winning start in handicaps under Richard Hills, who rides because Kieren Fallon is unable to do the 8st 4lb.
