In depth

Verdict

Plenty of expensive horseflesh on show here. David Loder's Mr Prospector colt, Act Of Duty, cost $3.6m as a yearling, while John Dunlop's son of King Of Kings, Alaared went for $310,000. Landseer's half-brother, Ikhtyar, cost IR¿380,000 and Alec Stewart's Seeyaaj saw the hammer fall at 270,000gns. All of these are unraced. The best form on show is probably that of Kalanisi's half-brother Kalamann. He ran green on his Leicester debut but looked promising in the process. Mr Dumby showed fair form when second on his debut at Kempton 21 days ago, while John Gosden's Zoroaster, who showed plenty of promise at two, may be better at 12/12 furlongs in time, while Peter Harris's Albavilla is also entitled to progress and win races this year. Regal Vintage was another expensive purchase but showed little as a juvenile. Rustle In The Wind is another who showed promise at two but, in a fascinating contest, Sir Michael Stoute's Kalaman, with Johnny Murtagh riding, gets a fairly confident vote. Mick Channon's Diesis filly, Day Diesis, is also worth a look.
