Dermot Weld's horses have been going well and LUZUM (NAP) should add to his seasonal tally. He was probably a bit unfortunate to come up against a nice filly at Cork and just failed to see out the extra furlong but the pair pulled well clear of the remainder and compensation awaits. Shapes started favourite in a mile maiden on the same card on the back of a couple of fine runs over this trip last season but weakened quickly after travelling smoothly up to this trip so has to be respected. Maymine made a bright start at Naas 10 days ago and that should have brought her to concert pitch while Hawaam wasn't beaten far over the minimum here a couple of weeks ago and is ready for the step up in trip. Jim Bolger's newcomer Signing Off is worth keeping an eye on for the future.
