In depth

Verdict

Joseph O'Brien has won the last two of these and winning point-to-pointer Battle Of Actium, placed behind the useful Eskylane in a Navan bumper in January, will be well schooled for his hurdling debut. Gabynako was beaten half-a-length by that winner on his debut over timber at Punchestown then failed by a nose against Fakiera at Fairyhouse. He looks certain to give a good account while Good Time Jonny landed a Musselburgh bumper in convincing fashion before a fair effort in the championship event at Cheltenham. Envious Editor is the most experienced of these though needs to step up but, in an interesting opener, CAPTAIN KANGAROO, an impressive bumper winner at Clonmel in March, gets the nod to make a successful hurdling bow. Fire Love won a point at Castletown last month but this looks a tough start under Rules.
