CAN CAN GIRL (NAP) beat a subsequent winner and a well-backed favourite at Beverley just over two weeks ago. Her winning margin would have been greater had she not hung in the closing stages and she can get the better of the penalised Colinton, who has won five of his last seven starts but has risen 26lb in the weights in doing so. Let Her Loose was beaten a long way back on Turf at Pontefract and Paramaribo has shown little so far but Eclipse De Lunar won twice last year and El Picador is better than he showed in an amateurs’ race at Doncaster last month.
El Picador (IRE) 7-2fav (10-9) Tracked leaders, pushed along over 2f out, kept on same pace thereafter, 11th of 13, 17 3/4l behind Ghadbbaan (9-11) at Doncaster 1m 4f hcp (4) gd in Mar.
Colinton 9-2 (9-1) Raced wide close up, headway over 1f out and soon every chance, ridden to lead inside final furlong, ran on, won at Catterick 1m 4f hcp (5) gd in Apr beating Myboymax (8-10) by 1 1/2l, 7 ran.
Can Can Girl (IRE) 13-2 (9-7) Close 3rd, went 2nd 7f out, led inside final 2f, stayed on gamely, all out, won at Beverley 1m 4f hcp (5) gd in Apr beating Lord Torranaga (9-4) by hd, 5 ran.
Eclipse De Lunar (IRE) 40-1 (8-0) Mid-division out wide, headway chasing leaders 5f out, pushed along in 3rd over 3f out, weakened inside final 2f, 8th of 13, 14 3/4l behind Surrey Gold (8-10) at York 1m 6f hcp (2) sft in Oct.
