Flying Spirit can defy topweight over Code Sign in the day's feature race, with Gimmick best of the rest. Flying Spirit did nothing wrong when scoring easily at Stratford on his last outing over hurdles, and with a recent win on the Flat at Brighton to keep him in trim, Gary Moore's charge lines up as the one to beat. It was suggested to the trainer that the Galway Hurdle would be a feasible target but having weighed up the opposition here, he looks to have made the right choice with just four rivals to worry about. The best of the quartet may be Code Sign who won well enough at Hereford last time. That was a 0-105 event though and he has it to do with the selection thanks to a seven-pound penalty. Gimmick has also been burdened with a rise after his convincing victory at Stratford and does not have as much scope at the age of ten. Ragdale Hall and Wet Lips have it all to do and Flying Spirit can make his class tell.
