HAPPY DIVA was beaten under four lengths by Saturday’s impressive Warwick winner Ms Parfois at Newbury last time. She only gave best approaching the last so the drop back in distance is probably a plus and Kerry Lee’s mare is overdue a first victory over the larger obstacles. Copper Kay is a decent hurdler but she disappointed on her only run to date over fences. Shaama Grise was soon left behind last time at Exeter but may appreciate the return to a longer trip and makes more appeal than Midnight Target, though her second to Hogan’s Height here last month has been franked.
Copper Kay 20-1 (11-7) Held up towards rear, pushed along briefly after 7th, headway before 2 out, one pace last, no extra flat, 6th of 13, 12 3/4l behind Momella (11-7) at Cheltenham 2m 4f hcp (2) sft in Dec.
Happy Diva (IRE) 13-2 (10-12) Tracked leaders, went 2nd 2 out, stayed on same pace and no impression run-in, 2nd of 7, 3 1/2l behind Ms Parfois (10-12) at Newbury 2m 7f lst (1) sft in Dec.
Midnight Target 16-1 (10-7) Prominent, led 3rd, headed next, not fluent 5th, one pace when not fluent 4 out, rallied last, went 2nd flat, not able to challenge winner, 2nd of 8, 1 1/4l behind Hogan's Height (11-0) at Ludlow 2m 4f (3) gs in Dec.
Shaama Grise (FR) 7-4 (11-0) Chased clear leader, lost 2nd 6th, chased leading pair, reminder after 8th, pushed along and held 3 out, blundered next, left 10 lengths 2nd last, closed on idling winner, always held, 2nd of 5, 1l behind The Nipper (11-0) at Exeter 2m 1f (3) sft in Dec.
