Gay Kelleway's Vanbrugh was an impressive winner over a mile at Southwell last week, leading over a furlong out and soon clear, beating his nearest rival by eight lengths. Not surprisingly the handicapper has reacted by putting up the son of Starborough by 18lbs for that success but despite that we fancy he can follow up. The opposition does not look too strong, the longer trip should suit and the Polytrack should not provide any problems to a runner who is likely to be held up. The main danger could prove to be Nick Littmoden's Town Called Malice who was pulled out of a similar event here earlier this week. However, he is by no means a certain stayer and is probably best watched for the time-being over this trip. A similar comment applies to Richard Hannon's Prince Ivor, who is by Polar Falcon and Pat Haslam's Sheikh Albadou colt Maunby Rocker. Decelerate has more to do than when scoring in a claimer over course and distance last time and a bigger danger may be Brian Meehan's Makulu. However, like so many front runners at Lingfield he failed to get home here on Tuesday and may need to be ridden with more restraint.
