Another race to watch rather than bet upon. Sir Michael Stoute enters the Highclere colt Loyal in this race. The Bluebird colt is well related to a number of three-year-old winners and should improve on whatever he shows today. Similarly, Desert View; a Saddler's Wells filly trained by Gerrard Butler, looks one for next year. Jeremy Noseda's debutante, Ephesus, does make more appeal in the short term. On breeding, he should be smart enough to land the prize; and perhaps more encouragingly for backers, his trainer has a 23% strike rate with his two-year-olds. Texas Hill finished almost eight lengths behind Trade Fair in a Newbury maiden. He will have come on for the run but the draw today could have been kinder.
