DEVER DREAM has got in very lightly here and rates the best bet on the card; Mary's Pet can beat Katy's Secret in the battle for second. The case for our selection is a relatively simple one; she's a well bred individual from a top yard and won a fair looking maiden in taking style last time. The second placed horse that day is rated 73, so it really is a surprise to see this daughter of Medicean allotted a mark of just 75 ahead of her handicap debut especially as she travelled supremely well and was well on top at the close. Mary's Pet is 6lbs higher than when getting off the mark on her penultimate start but looks capable of taking a race of this sort of mark at some stage. She will be suited by stepping back down to six furlongs and if there is to be an upset she may provide it. Katy's Secret has raced exclusively at this trip and did well to score at Southwell last time. She took third in a reasonable maiden on her sole try here but was beaten some distance and on balance needs to improve to win this. Caramelita has only been outside the first three in four of her 13 starts and wasn't beaten far into second last time, so John Jenkins' charge has to be considered despite having been bumped up 2lbs in defeat. Bellini Rose did well to get up over five furlongs here on her debut before disappointing in a novice event. This is easier and she's shown that she can go well fresh, but a mark of 73 may prove to be a little harsh in the fullness of time. One horse stands out above the rest here with Dever Dream a confident selection.
